TradingView Basics

Before you can use SmartifyTrade scripts and create alerts, you need a TradingView account and a basic understanding of the platform.

What is TradingView?

TradingView is a web-based charting platform used by traders all over the world. It lets you view live price charts, add indicators, write Pine Script strategies, and create automated alerts. SmartifyTrade uses TradingView because it supports invite-only scripts (so our indicators stay protected) and has a powerful alert system with webhook support that can trigger your MT5 trades automatically.

Tutorial video coming soon — What is TradingView

The founder will add the YouTube tutorial link here.

Why SmartifyTrade uses TradingView

SmartifyTrade's indicators and strategies are built as Pine Script scripts on TradingView. TradingView's invite-only script protection means only authorised users (active SmartifyTrade subscribers) can access the scripts. The alert → webhook system is how your TradingView chart signals are sent to the SmartifyTrade Bridge EA, which then executes trades in MT5.

⚠ Common Mistakes

Using a Google or Facebook sign-up may create a different username — always note down your TradingView username after sign-up.

Do not use a shared/office email — use your personal email for account access.

Next: Verify your email

Verify your email

TradingView requires email verification before you can use all features. Without verification, some features (like creating alerts) may be restricted.

  1. After sign-up, check your inbox for an email from noreply@tradingview.com.
  2. Click the verification link in the email.
  3. You will be redirected back to TradingView and your account will be verified.
  4. If you did not receive the email, check your spam/junk folder.
  5. If still not received, click "Resend verification email" in your TradingView profile settings.

🖼️ Screenshot: Verification email format and what to click

⚠ Common Mistakes

Check spam/junk folder if the email is not in your inbox.

Some corporate email servers block TradingView emails — use a Gmail or personal email.

Log in to TradingView

After account creation and email verification, you can log in and access TradingView charts.

  1. Go to tradingview.com.
  2. Click "Sign In" at the top right.
  3. Enter your email and password.
  4. Click "Sign In" to proceed.
  5. You will be taken to your TradingView home page.

⚠ Common Mistakes

If you used Google/Facebook to sign up, you must use the same method to sign in.

Forgotten password: use "Forgot password?" link on the login page.

Free plan vs paid plans

TradingView offers a free plan and multiple paid plans (Essential, Plus, Premium, Ultimate). For SmartifyTrade basic use, the free plan is sufficient. However, some limitations apply.

  1. Free plan: 1 chart layout per tab, up to 3 indicators per chart, limited alerts (1 active alert on the free plan as of 2024 — check TradingView website for current limits).
  2. Essential / Plus / Premium: More indicators, more alert slots, more chart layouts.
  3. SmartifyTrade users who need multiple active alerts (e.g., multiple strategies running) should consider upgrading to at least the Essential plan.
  4. For invite-only scripts: accessing SmartifyTrade scripts does NOT require a paid TradingView plan — script access is granted by SmartifyTrade, not TradingView.
  5. Check current plan pricing at: tradingview.com/pricing

🖼️ Screenshot: TradingView pricing page — plan comparison table

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not confuse TradingView plan upgrades with SmartifyTrade subscriptions — they are separate.

Free plan alert limit is very low — if alerts stop firing, check if you have hit the free alert limit.

TradingView web vs mobile app

TradingView is available as a web app (browser), desktop app, and mobile app (iOS and Android). For SmartifyTrade setup, the web version is recommended because alert and webhook configuration is easier on desktop.

  1. Web app: Use tradingview.com in Chrome or Firefox browser. Recommended for setup.
  2. Desktop app: Downloadable from tradingview.com — similar to web, but runs offline.
  3. Mobile app: Available on iOS App Store and Google Play. Good for monitoring charts, but webhook and alert setup should be done on desktop.
  4. For SmartifyTrade SmartifyTrade Bridge EA setup: always use the web or desktop version.

🖼️ Screenshot: TradingView web interface vs mobile interface

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not try to set up webhooks from the mobile app — the option may not be available on mobile.

Group 2 · Chart Setup

Chart Setup

Learn to open a chart, select the right symbol and timeframe, and save your layout for repeated use.

Open a chart

TradingView charts are where all indicators, scripts, and alert conditions are configured. Every SmartifyTrade alert must be created on a chart.

  1. After logging in to TradingView, click "Chart" in the top navigation bar.
  2. A new chart will open with a default symbol (usually SPX or similar).
  3. You can also open a chart from the "+" button on the top toolbar.

🖼️ Screenshot: Chart button location in TradingView navigation

📹

Tutorial video coming soon — Open a chart

The founder will add the YouTube tutorial link here.

⚠ Common Mistakes

If you have multiple chart tabs open, make sure you are working on the correct chart tab.

Search and select a symbol

A symbol is the instrument you want to chart — for example NIFTY 50, USDINR, XAUUSD (Gold), or any Forex pair. SmartifyTrade alerts need to be on the same symbol that your MT5 broker supports.

  1. In the chart view, click the symbol name in the top-left corner (e.g., "SPX").
  2. A search box will appear. Type the symbol name — e.g., "NIFTY", "USDINR", "XAUUSD", "EURUSD".
  3. Select the correct exchange/data source from the results list.
  4. The chart will update to show the selected symbol.
  5. Important: Match the symbol exactly to what your MT5 broker uses (e.g., "XAUUSD" not "GOLD").

🖼️ Screenshot: Symbol search box and results — how to select correct symbol

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not select the wrong exchange or data feed — charts from different exchanges may behave differently.

Always confirm that the symbol you select in TradingView matches exactly what your MT5 broker uses.

Choose candlestick chart type

SmartifyTrade scripts are designed for candlestick (OHLC) charts. Always use the candlestick chart type.

  1. In the chart toolbar, look for the chart type button (usually shows a candlestick icon or a line icon).
  2. Click it and select "Candles" or "Hollow Candles".
  3. Your chart will switch to candlestick format.

🖼️ Screenshot: Chart type selector — selecting Candles

⚠ Common Mistakes

Line charts or Heikin Ashi charts may cause incorrect signal readings from some scripts.

Always use standard Candlestick / Candles type unless a specific script documentation says otherwise.

Select timeframe

The timeframe defines the time period of each candlestick. Selecting the correct timeframe is critical — your SmartifyTrade script must be applied on the correct timeframe.

  1. In the chart toolbar, find the timeframe selector (shows current timeframe, e.g., "1D" for daily).
  2. Click it to open the timeframe selector.
  3. Choose the timeframe specified in your SmartifyTrade strategy documentation.
  4. Common timeframes: 1M (1 minute), 5M, 15M, 1H, 4H, 1D (daily).

🖼️ Screenshot: Timeframe selector location and available options

⚠ Common Mistakes

Wrong timeframe is the most common setup mistake — always double-check.

Your MT5 alert and SmartifyTrade script must both be on the correct timeframe.

Understand 1M, 5M, 15M, 1H, 4H, Daily

Each timeframe shows a different granularity of price data. Choosing the right one depends on your SmartifyTrade strategy.

  1. 1M (1 Minute): Each candle = 1 minute of price data. Used for fast scalping strategies.
  2. 5M (5 Minutes): Each candle = 5 minutes. Used for short-term strategies.
  3. 15M (15 Minutes): Each candle = 15 minutes. Good for intraday swing setups.
  4. 1H (1 Hour): Each candle = 1 hour. Used for intraday and short swing trading.
  5. 4H (4 Hours): Each candle = 4 hours. Used for swing trading strategies.
  6. Daily (1D): Each candle = 1 full trading day. Used for positional/long-term strategies.
  7. Check your specific SmartifyTrade strategy documentation to see which timeframe is required.

🖼️ Screenshot: Same chart shown in 1H vs 4H vs Daily — showing how each looks different

Zoom and reset chart

Zooming in and out lets you see more or fewer candles. Resetting the chart view returns it to the default view.

  1. Zoom in: Scroll up with mouse wheel, or pinch to zoom on trackpad.
  2. Zoom out: Scroll down with mouse wheel.
  3. Pan: Click and drag the chart left or right.
  4. Reset to default view: Press "R" on keyboard, or double-click the price scale on the right.

🖼️ Screenshot: Zoom controls and price scale reset button

⚠ Common Mistakes

If the chart looks empty or zoomed too far, press "R" to reset the view.

Save chart layout

TradingView allows you to save chart layouts so your settings, indicators, and scripts are preserved for next time.

  1. After setting up your chart (symbol, timeframe, indicators), click the "Save" button in the top toolbar (cloud/disk icon).
  2. Give your layout a name — e.g., "SmartifyTrade XAUUSD 1H".
  3. Click Save. The layout is saved to your TradingView account.
  4. To load a saved layout: click the layouts icon in the top toolbar and select your saved layout.

Group 3 · Indicators & SmartifyTrade Scripts

Indicators & Scripts

How to add indicators, understand invite-only scripts, and apply your SmartifyTrade scripts to a chart.

What is an indicator?

An indicator is a calculation based on price data that is plotted on your chart. It helps traders identify trends, momentum, reversals, and entry/exit signals. Examples: RSI, MACD, Moving Average. SmartifyTrade provides custom Pine Script indicators that are added on top of your chart.

🖼️ Screenshot: Chart with an indicator plotted — showing RSI below the main chart

Add a normal TradingView indicator

TradingView's built-in indicators are available in the Indicators menu. This is different from SmartifyTrade invite-only scripts.

  1. In the chart view, click the "Indicators" button in the top toolbar (or press "/" shortcut).
  2. Search for an indicator by name — e.g., "RSI", "MACD", "EMA".
  3. Click the indicator name to add it to your chart.
  4. The indicator will appear on the chart and you can adjust its settings.

🖼️ Screenshot: Indicators button location and the search/add dialog

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not add too many indicators — too many can slow down the chart and create confusion.

What is an invite-only script?

Invite-only scripts are Pine Script indicators/strategies that are private. The script author (SmartifyTrade) must give you access before you can see or use the script. This is how SmartifyTrade protects its proprietary indicators. You need an active SmartifyTrade subscription AND your TradingView username must be added to SmartifyTrade's approved list.

🖼️ Screenshot: Invite-only script shown in TradingView — 'Access Limited' message

📹

Tutorial video coming soon — What is an invite-only script

The founder will add the YouTube tutorial link here.

Find your TradingView username

Your TradingView username is the unique name you chose when you signed up. It is NOT your email address. SmartifyTrade needs your exact TradingView username to grant script access.

  1. Log in to TradingView.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Your username is shown below your display name — it starts with @ symbol on TradingView (e.g., @john_trader).
  4. Copy the username WITHOUT the @ symbol (just: john_trader).
  5. This is the exact username you will enter in SmartifyTrade dashboard.

🖼️ Screenshot: Where to find TradingView username in profile menu

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not use your email address — that is not your TradingView username.

Do not include the @ symbol when entering the username in SmartifyTrade.

Username is case-sensitive — enter it exactly as shown in TradingView.

Add TradingView username in SmartifyTrade profile

Before SmartifyTrade can grant you script access, you must add your TradingView username in your SmartifyTrade dashboard profile settings.

  1. Log in to your SmartifyTrade dashboard at smartifytrade.com.
  2. Go to Profile & Settings.
  3. Find the "TradingView Username" field.
  4. Enter your TradingView username exactly (no @ symbol, case-sensitive).
  5. Click Save.
  6. SmartifyTrade will process your access request. This may take up to 24 hours after initial subscription activation.

🖼️ Screenshot: SmartifyTrade dashboard — profile settings — TradingView username field

⚠ Common Mistakes

If you change your TradingView username later, you must update it in SmartifyTrade profile immediately — script access is tied to the username.

Typos in the username mean access will not be granted — double-check carefully.

Access SmartifyTrade scripts

Once SmartifyTrade has granted you access, the scripts will appear in your TradingView Indicators panel under 'Invite-Only Scripts'.

  1. After SmartifyTrade has processed your access (and you have added your TradingView username), log in to TradingView.
  2. Open a chart and click the "Indicators" button.
  3. Scroll down to the "Invite-Only Scripts" section (below public indicators).
  4. You will see SmartifyTrade scripts listed there.
  5. If you do not see the scripts, wait for access to be granted, or contact SmartifyTrade support.

🖼️ Screenshot: Indicators panel — Invite-Only Scripts section — SmartifyTrade scripts visible

📹

Tutorial video coming soon — Access SmartifyTrade invite-only scripts

The founder will add the YouTube tutorial link here.

⚠ Common Mistakes

Invite-Only Scripts section is only visible if access has been granted — it will not appear if you have not submitted your username or if your subscription is not active.

If scripts disappeared after plan renewal, contact support — access may need to be re-granted.

Apply SmartifyTrade script on chart

Applying the script adds the SmartifyTrade indicator to your chart so you can see its signals and create alerts based on its conditions.

  1. Open the chart with the correct symbol and timeframe.
  2. Click "Indicators" → scroll to "Invite-Only Scripts".
  3. Click the SmartifyTrade script name to add it to the chart.
  4. The script will load on the chart — you will see its signals plotted.
  5. Wait for it to fully load (may take a few seconds).
  6. Do not close or refresh the chart while the script is loading.

🖼️ Screenshot: SmartifyTrade script applied on chart — signals visible on candles

⚠ Common Mistakes

If the script shows an error after loading, the script may have been updated — remove and re-add.

Ensure you are on the correct timeframe before applying the script.

Update or reload script access

Occasionally TradingView scripts are updated by the script author. If your script stops loading or shows an error, you may need to re-add it.

  1. If the script shows an error on the chart, click the "X" to remove it.
  2. Go to Indicators → Invite-Only Scripts → re-add the script.
  3. If the script no longer appears in Invite-Only Scripts, your access may have expired (subscription renewal issue). Contact support.
  4. After a SmartifyTrade script update, all users may need to re-add the script — this is normal.

Group 4 · Alert Setup

Alert Setup

TradingView alerts are the bridge between your chart and the SmartifyTrade Bridge EA. Every trade executed by the EA starts as a TradingView alert.

What is a TradingView alert?

A TradingView alert is a notification triggered when a specific condition on your chart is met — for example, when your SmartifyTrade script generates a BUY or SELL signal. The alert can send a webhook (an HTTP request) to the SmartifyTrade Bridge, which then executes the trade in MT5.

🖼️ Screenshot: Alert icon in TradingView toolbar and the alert list panel

📹

Tutorial video coming soon — What is a TradingView alert

The founder will add the YouTube tutorial link here.

Create a new alert

Alerts are created from within the chart view. You must have your SmartifyTrade script applied on the chart before creating an alert based on it.

  1. Make sure the SmartifyTrade script is applied on the chart with the correct symbol and timeframe.
  2. Right-click anywhere on the chart → select "Add alert on [Script Name]" — OR —
  3. Click the alarm clock (🕐) icon in the right toolbar → click "+" to create new alert.
  4. The "Create Alert" dialog will open.

🖼️ Screenshot: Right-click menu on chart showing 'Add alert on...' option

⚠ Common Mistakes

You must apply the SmartifyTrade script FIRST before you can create an alert based on it.

Creating an alert on the wrong script or wrong symbol is a common mistake.

Select alert condition

The alert condition defines exactly what triggers the alert. For SmartifyTrade scripts, you will select a specific script condition (e.g., 'BUY Signal', 'SELL Signal', 'Alert condition 1').

  1. In the Create Alert dialog, click the first dropdown (Condition).
  2. Select the SmartifyTrade script from the list.
  3. Then select the specific condition — e.g., "Buy", "Sell", or the specific signal name as documented in your strategy guide.
  4. Confirm the symbol and chart shown matches your intended setup.

🖼️ Screenshot: Create Alert dialog — Condition dropdown with SmartifyTrade script selected

⚠ Common Mistakes

Selecting the wrong condition (e.g., a TradingView built-in indicator instead of the SmartifyTrade script) will cause incorrect or missing signals.

Read the specific SmartifyTrade strategy documentation to know which exact condition to select.

Understand alert frequency (Once / Once per bar / Once per bar close)

Alert frequency controls how often the alert fires when the condition is true. For SmartifyTrade use, the correct setting is critical to avoid duplicate trades.

  1. "Once": Alert fires only once when condition is first met, then stops. NOT suitable for ongoing strategy automation.
  2. "Once per bar": Alert fires once each time a new bar (candle) meets the condition. This is the standard setting for most SmartifyTrade strategies.
  3. "Once per bar close": Alert fires only when the candle CLOSES meeting the condition — more confirmation, fewer false signals. Check your strategy documentation for which to use.
  4. "Once per minute" (or other time intervals): Not typically used with SmartifyTrade scripts.
  5. Recommended default: Once per bar close — unless your strategy guide specifies otherwise.

🖼️ Screenshot: Alert frequency dropdown showing all options

⚠ Common Mistakes

"Once" will stop firing after the first trigger — don't use this for ongoing automation.

Using "Once per bar" instead of "Once per bar close" can cause premature signals on still-forming candles.

Set alert expiry

Alert expiry sets when the alert automatically stops. TradingView free plan alerts expire in 1-2 months. Paid plans allow longer or permanent alerts.

  1. In the Create Alert dialog, find the Expiry date/time setting.
  2. Set a date far enough in the future — or select "Open-ended" if available on your plan.
  3. Free plan: Maximum expiry is typically 2 months. You will need to recreate the alert when it expires.
  4. Paid plan: Can set much longer or permanent expiry.

🖼️ Screenshot: Alert expiry date setting in Create Alert dialog

⚠ Common Mistakes

If your alerts suddenly stop firing and you cannot figure out why, check if they expired.

Set a calendar reminder to renew free plan alerts before they expire.

Add alert message (JSON)

The alert message is the data sent to the SmartifyTrade Bridge webhook. It must be in the exact JSON format specified by SmartifyTrade. This is critical — an incorrect message format means the Bridge will not execute the trade.

  1. In the Create Alert dialog, find the "Message" field.
  2. Copy the exact alert message JSON from your SmartifyTrade dashboard (Strategy → Alert Message).
  3. Paste it into the Message field. Do not modify the format.
  4. The message will typically look like: {"action":"buy","symbol":"{{ticker}}","strategy":"strat_name","key":"YOUR_KEY"}
  5. SmartifyTrade provides the exact message format — do not type it manually.

🖼️ Screenshot: Alert message field in Create Alert dialog with example JSON

⚠ Common Mistakes

Even a single character difference in the JSON message will cause the Bridge to reject the signal.

Do not add extra spaces, quotes, or modify the key values.

Copy the message directly from your SmartifyTrade dashboard — do not retype it.

Save alert

After filling in all alert settings (condition, frequency, expiry, message, webhook URL), save the alert.

  1. Review all settings one final time — condition, symbol, timeframe, message, webhook URL, frequency.
  2. Click the "Create" or "Save" button in the alert dialog.
  3. The alert will appear in your Alerts panel on the right side of the screen.
  4. A green indicator means the alert is active.

🖼️ Screenshot: Alerts panel — new active alert shown with green indicator

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not close the dialog without clicking Save — your work will be lost.

Edit, pause, resume, or delete alert

You can manage alerts from the Alerts panel at any time.

  1. Open the Alerts panel (click the alarm clock icon in the right toolbar).
  2. Find your alert in the list.
  3. To edit: click the pencil/edit icon next to the alert.
  4. To pause: toggle the alert off (switch turns grey).
  5. To resume: toggle the alert back on.
  6. To delete: click the X or trash icon.

🖼️ Screenshot: Alert list panel showing edit, pause, and delete options

Check alert log/history

TradingView keeps a log of recently fired alerts. You can check this to confirm whether your alert actually fired.

  1. Open the Alerts panel.
  2. Click "Alert Log" or "History" tab (available in the panel).
  3. You will see a list of recently fired alerts with timestamps.
  4. Confirm that your SmartifyTrade alert appears in the log when expected.
  5. If the log is empty even when conditions were met, the alert may have expired or been paused.

Group 5 · Webhook & MT5 Bridge

Webhook & MT5 Bridge

The webhook connects your TradingView alert to the SmartifyTrade Bridge EA, which executes the trade in MetaTrader 5.

📈TradingViewScript signal fires
🔔AlertCondition met
🔗WebhookJSON sent via HTTP
⚙️Bridge EASmartifyTrade server
💹MT5Trade executed

How TradingView alerts connect to SmartifyTrade Bridge

When a TradingView alert fires, it sends a POST request (webhook) to a URL — the SmartifyTrade Bridge server. The Bridge reads the JSON message, identifies the trade instruction, validates it against your account settings, and sends the order to your MT5 terminal via the SmartifyTrade Bridge EA. This is the core of the automated execution flow.

🖼️ Screenshot: Full execution flow diagram — TradingView alert to MT5 trade

📹

Tutorial video coming soon — How the TradingView → Bridge → MT5 connection works

The founder will add the YouTube tutorial link here.

What is a webhook URL?

A webhook URL is a web address that receives data (HTTP POST requests). When TradingView fires an alert, it sends the alert message (JSON) to this URL. The SmartifyTrade signal router listens at this URL and processes incoming signals.

🖼️ Screenshot: TradingView alert notification tab with Webhook URL set to https://api.smartifytrade.com/signal

⚠ Common Mistakes

Keep your account key (which goes inside the alert MESSAGE body, not the URL) private. Do not share it publicly.

The webhook URL is always: https://api.smartifytrade.com/signal

SmartifyTrade webhook URL — one for everyone

The webhook URL is the same for all SmartifyTrade users: https://api.smartifytrade.com/signal. Your account is identified by the account key embedded inside the alert MESSAGE body (JSON), not by a per-user URL.

  1. Log in to your SmartifyTrade dashboard at smartifytrade.com.
  2. Copy the webhook URL exactly: https://api.smartifytrade.com/signal
  3. Get your alert message template — this is where your unique account key lives — from the strategy or setup section in your dashboard.
  4. Both the URL and the message go into the TradingView alert (URL in the Webhook URL field, message in the Message field).

🖼️ Screenshot: SmartifyTrade dashboard — alert message template with per-user account key

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not use a message template from someone else's account — it contains their account key and their trades will fire on your alerts.

If you suspect your account key has been exposed, contact support to regenerate it.

Add webhook URL in TradingView alert

In the Create Alert dialog, there is a Webhook URL field. This is where you paste the SmartifyTrade Bridge URL.

  1. Open or create a TradingView alert (alarm clock icon → + → Create Alert).
  2. Fill in the condition, frequency, and message as previously described.
  3. Scroll down in the alert dialog to find the "Webhook URL" field.
  4. Paste your SmartifyTrade webhook URL into this field.
  5. The field should show: https://api.smartifytrade.com/signal
  6. Do not add any extra spaces or characters.
  7. Click Create/Save.

🖼️ Screenshot: Create Alert dialog — Webhook URL field location and example URL pasted

⚠ Common Mistakes

If the Webhook URL field is greyed out or not visible, you are on the TradingView free plan and may need a paid plan for webhook support — verify this on TradingView pricing page.

Pasting a partial URL or wrong URL means signals will not reach the Bridge.

Paste correct alert message

The alert message is the JSON payload sent to the SmartifyTrade Bridge. It contains the trade instruction. Copy it exactly from your SmartifyTrade dashboard.

  1. In your SmartifyTrade dashboard, go to the strategy or setup section that provides the alert message template.
  2. Copy the entire JSON message provided.
  3. In the TradingView alert "Message" field, delete any existing content.
  4. Paste the copied JSON message.
  5. Do not modify any values unless specifically instructed by SmartifyTrade documentation.

🖼️ Screenshot: Alert message field with correct JSON pasted — example shown

⚠ Common Mistakes

Even one extra character or space in the JSON will cause the Bridge to reject the signal.

TradingView placeholders like {{ticker}} or {{close}} in the message are intentional — do not remove them.

Fire a test alert

After setting up an alert, it is good practice to fire a test alert to confirm everything is connected correctly before trading real money.

  1. Some SmartifyTrade strategy setups include a "Test Signal" button in the dashboard.
  2. Alternatively, you can temporarily change the alert condition to "Crossing" with a very easily met value to force the alert to fire.
  3. Or: wait for the next natural signal on the chart to fire the alert.
  4. After firing, immediately check your SmartifyTrade dashboard signal log and your MT5 journal.

🖼️ Screenshot: SmartifyTrade dashboard — signal received indicator after test

📹

Tutorial video coming soon — Fire a test alert and verify

The founder will add the YouTube tutorial link here.

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not test with a live MT5 account — always test on demo first.

A test alert that does not appear in the signal log means the webhook URL or message is incorrect.

Check signal received status

After an alert fires, the SmartifyTrade Bridge server logs the incoming signal. You can check this in your dashboard to confirm the signal was received.

  1. Log in to SmartifyTrade dashboard.
  2. Go to: Bridge EA → Signal Log (or similar section).
  3. Look for the most recent signal entry with a timestamp.
  4. Confirm the signal shows the correct symbol, action (buy/sell), and strategy name.
  5. A "Received" status means the Bridge got the signal. Next check: MT5 execution.

🖼️ Screenshot: SmartifyTrade dashboard signal log — received signal entry

⚠ Common Mistakes

Signal log shows "received" but no trade in MT5: check if MT5 Bridge EA is running and connected.

Signal not in log at all: alert did not fire, or webhook URL is wrong.

Check MT5 trade execution

The final step is confirming that the trade was opened in MetaTrader 5 as instructed by the SmartifyTrade alert.

  1. Open MetaTrader 5 on your computer.
  2. Check the "Trade" tab at the bottom — if a trade was opened, it will appear here.
  3. Check the "Journal" tab — it logs all EA activity, including incoming signals.
  4. A successful execution shows: trade opened at the correct symbol with the correct lot size.
  5. If no trade opened: check MT5 is running, Bridge EA is attached to the chart, and internet is connected.

🖼️ Screenshot: MT5 Trade tab showing an open position placed by Bridge EA

⚠ Common Mistakes

MT5 must be running and connected to your broker when an alert fires — closed MT5 = no trade execution.

Bridge EA must be attached to a chart in MT5 (any chart) with AutoTrading enabled.

Understand common execution delays

There is always a small delay between when your TradingView alert fires and when the trade appears in MT5. Understanding these delays helps set realistic expectations.

  1. TradingView sends the webhook: ~1-3 seconds after alert condition is met.
  2. SmartifyTrade Bridge receives and processes the signal: ~1-2 seconds.
  3. Bridge EA receives the instruction and sends order to MT5 broker: ~1-3 seconds.
  4. MT5 broker confirms trade execution: ~1-5 seconds depending on broker speed.
  5. Total expected delay: 3-15 seconds in normal conditions.
  6. High volatility or slow internet can increase delays.

⚠ Common Mistakes

Do not compare entry price on TradingView chart to MT5 execution price — slippage due to delay is normal.

For very fast scalping strategies, execution delay can be significant — test on demo first.

Group 7 · Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

Common problems and their solutions. Work through these step by step before contacting support.

🔕 Alert did not fire

  • Check if the alert is still active (not expired or paused) in the Alerts panel.
  • Check the alert frequency — "Once" stops after first fire.
  • Verify the alert condition was actually met by looking at the chart.
  • Free plan alert limit: check if you have exceeded the maximum active alerts.
  • TradingView server issues (rare): check tradingview.com status page.

⚡ Alert fired but MT5 trade did not execute

  • Check if MT5 is running — if MT5 is closed, trades cannot be executed.
  • Ensure Bridge EA is attached to a chart in MT5 with AutoTrading enabled (green play button).
  • Check if the SmartifyTrade Bridge server received the signal (dashboard signal log).
  • Confirm your MT5 account is connected to your broker (check MT5 connection status).
  • Check MT5 Journal tab for error messages from the Bridge EA.

📍 Wrong symbol or timeframe

  • Check TradingView chart: is the symbol exactly what your MT5 broker uses?
  • Some brokers use "XAUUSD." (with a period) — match the exact broker symbol format.
  • Confirm the chart timeframe matches the strategy's required timeframe.
  • Delete the alert, fix the symbol/timeframe, re-apply the script, recreate the alert.

👁 SmartifyTrade script not visible

  • Confirm your TradingView username was submitted to SmartifyTrade (check profile settings in dashboard).
  • Check your SmartifyTrade subscription is active.
  • Script access may take up to 24 hours to activate — wait and try again.
  • Log out of TradingView and log back in — sometimes refreshing is needed.
  • Contact SmartifyTrade support with your TradingView username to verify access.

🔒 Invite-only access not available

  • Your subscription must be active for invite-only script access.
  • TradingView username must be submitted correctly in SmartifyTrade profile.
  • SmartifyTrade grants access manually — allow 24 hours on first activation.
  • After subscription renewal, allow up to 24 hours for access to be refreshed.

🌐 Webhook URL invalid / Alert message incorrect

  • Verify the webhook URL is copied exactly from SmartifyTrade dashboard — no missing characters.
  • Check for extra spaces at the start or end of the URL.
  • Verify the alert message JSON is valid — use a JSON validator (jsonlint.com) if unsure.
  • Copy the message fresh from the SmartifyTrade dashboard and paste again.
  • The Bridge will log invalid messages — check SmartifyTrade signal log for error details.

👤 TradingView username entered incorrectly

  • Double-check your TradingView username from your TradingView profile page.
  • Username is case-sensitive — match exactly (e.g., "John_Trader" ≠ "john_trader").
  • Do not include the @ symbol.
  • Update username in SmartifyTrade profile settings and save.
  • Contact support if scripts still don't appear after correction.

🆓 TradingView free plan limitations

  • Free plan: 1 active alert maximum (as of 2024).
  • Webhook URL field may be unavailable on free plan — check TradingView pricing.
  • Free plan alerts expire in 1-2 months.
  • Upgrade to Essential or Plus plan for webhook support and more alerts.
  • TradingView plan is separate from SmartifyTrade subscription.

🌐 Internet or browser issue

  • Poor internet connection can delay webhook delivery.
  • Clear browser cache and cookies, then reload TradingView.
  • Try a different browser (Chrome recommended for TradingView).
  • Disable browser extensions that might block TradingView scripts.
  • Test on a different network if possible.

⛔ MT5 terminal not running or EA not attached

  • MT5 must be running on your computer whenever alerts can fire.
  • Bridge EA must be attached to at least one chart in MT5.
  • AutoTrading must be enabled in MT5 (green play button in toolbar).
  • EA must show "Connected" or similar status in its panel.
  • Check MT5 Journal tab for any error messages.

🔑 License issue

  • Bridge EA requires a valid license key — check if your license is entered correctly.
  • License key is found in your SmartifyTrade dashboard under Bridge EA section.
  • Expired or invalid license: contact SmartifyTrade support.
  • Do not share your license key with others.

🔄 Demo vs live account confusion

  • The SmartifyTrade Bridge EA can be configured for demo or live accounts.
  • Check MT5: is the account showing "Demo" or the live account number?
  • Only use a demo MT5 account during initial testing.
  • When switching to live, update the MT5 account settings in Bridge EA configuration.
  • Do NOT run on a live account without completing demo testing.

Group 8 · Safety & Disclaimer

Safety & Disclaimer

Please read carefully before going live. Automation can execute trades very quickly — setup errors can cause real financial loss.

⚠ Important

Educational and Technical Setup Only — No Financial Advice

This guide is for technical setup purposes only. SmartifyTrade does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or profit guarantees. All trading involves risk. Trading decisions are entirely the responsibility of the user.

⚠ Risk Warning

No Profit Guarantee

Past performance of any SmartifyTrade strategy, script, or indicator does not guarantee future results. Trading forex, commodities, and indices carries significant risk of capital loss. Only trade with money you can afford to lose completely.

🔒 Critical Rule

Wrong Settings Can Execute Wrong Trades

Automated execution happens in seconds. A wrong symbol, wrong lot size, wrong direction setting, or incorrect alert message can result in trades being executed incorrectly and instantly. Always verify every setting before enabling live trading. Use demo first.

✅ Best Practice

Always Test on Demo First

Complete the full setup checklist on a demo MT5 account first. Run at least 10-20 test trades and confirm all signals, entries, exits, and risk settings behave as expected. Only then consider switching to a live account.

User Responsibility

The user is fully responsible for all settings configured in TradingView, the SmartifyTrade Bridge EA, MetaTrader 5, and any broker accounts. SmartifyTrade provides the tools, documentation, and support — but the user is responsible for verifying settings, monitoring trades, and managing risk at all times. No automated system removes the need for active oversight.
